Aaawwweeee they are sleeping...........

Now a hot bubble bath and bed for myself... I have a 504 meeting in the morning and prepare for an IEP.....

OMG- THE LONGEST DAY EVER

Today has seemed like a full week long.............

Keirsten and I both said...It's only noon... which seems days ago.

The kids are in rare form...

All Kaitlyn talked about was going to High School and Miss Michael says she can play basketball on the High School team...fixated on that thought.

Jordan...LAND HOE..... Someone throw him a rope.. He has been the biggest challenge. His O.T. had to physically hold him in place; work hand over hand as he screamed "no" to everything which was exhausting but he needed to know he was not in control...once his turn was over he did most of the therapy tasks he had just refused to do-- on his own at the other end of the table... Gheeesh.. at least the screaming crying "NO TEAR" is over. (headache)

Lucas has cried pretty much all day, just miserable wanting to sleep but if I let him he will be up all night.... so we are dealing with winy cries....

Now, this tops them all..................... Tressa is DRAMA crying because she has tried to pull off some new sprouts of hair she decided she doesn't want to have located on her body...She is crying.... "I do not want to have Va J J hair" It is all out hysterical cry...

Kiersten is slamming doors because I will not let her wear a little girl size 6 shirt to school tomorrow because IT DOESN'T FIT who cares if it is a HOLSTER ...IT DOES NOT FIT...

I think it is bedtime, they need some quality time; ALONE! If that doesn't work I might need someone to throw me a rope....LOL

Kaitlyn is almost 15 years old!!

Kaitlyn is ready for her friends (& friend's mom) to pick her up to go to the mall, she loves to shop...it is in her genes ;0) Nikki

Working on reading and speech

For me looking back .....

It is almost September 2009, I celebrate being on earth 49 years in just a few days. I can honestly say I do not feel it....49 years, how can that be???

The past six months have gone by so fast, too fast. It feels like yesterday I was driving over to Broward hospital holding Emma in NICU. It is a flash--the summer of 2009 gone in a blink. My oldest daughter married in the most beautiful celebration I have ever attended..here and gone...She was the Queen of that Ball!

All the fears of Emma's surgery...filled with daily milestone's reached.

The kids summer...poof * although they seem to enjoy the more structured times of school year UNLESS we are hotel hopping.... Summers on the road just inspire them.

I am so blessed, so often people comment on my generosity and will for taking the children into my home through adoption. The fallacy is me being the one giving to them; the children bring so much more to me than I could ever give to them. I merely provide a safe journey to face. Each one of them has exceeded the little I have provided. Again, I am the one blessed for all of them in my life.

I thought I was ready to type more, I a tired and this week has been emotionally filling.

Amen, my prayers have been answered!

I first need to let you know I have been advocating for an 18 yr old girl to get back into public school so she might be able to read a simple lease or even her wedding vows one day.... it has been a long long process and the past three weeks have proven to be taxing; full of bureaucracy BS.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE:

My Lee county team put down many of the bureaucrat red tape "brick walls" (BS) and worked cooperatively between departments with the parent and her advocate-- the end result is; YES YES YES!

Jessica is starting High School with all her supports and services in place! We are all very excited for the next four years. Graduation celebrations are being planned as we speak....LOL

It was VERY NICE to have so many players playing nice together in the sand box thinking of the best interest of the child!!!!

THANK YOU LEE COUNTY SCHOOL SYSTEM!

Ice cream cone cupcakes made by; Jordan

The first week of school is near it's end.....

Keirsten is loving her social life--- Oh I mean High school days. I have a meeting on Monday to do a new 504 plan for her accommodations for having ADHD in High school. I believe I will learn that Home work is not being completed... She sleeps when she gets home, gets up and eats and sleeps ore to be up at 4 am to primp herself for the 6 am bus. I think as the Mother asking for 2 hours of homework should not be asking too much since there is 2 hours of hair an make up fit into her daily routine.. Lord knows how much on line, PSP time with DVD/TV in her room is on as well.... HIGH SCHOOL!!! TEENS!!! Gotta luv m! She is happy.

Kaitlyn is Big Sis on campus at the middle school. She is right back into her routine with a block schedule this year. She has a set of classes every other day with different classes opposite days..yes I am already confused. She is keeping up and the moment she felt she was not she sought out a teacher in the court yard and got directions by showing her schedule to that adult!! GO KATIE!!!!! I am so very proud of her desire to learn, be a part of our community and help out at home.

Steven is in a new school, little brother on campus and the first year in middle school, first year changing classes with changing teachers outside going to gen ed from a supported classroom. All different and LOTS MORE INDEPENDENCE.. Well well well. Monday went well, Tuesday went well, Wed........went not so well. Steven got himself into a pickle and dug into deeper pickle juice one might say... He decided that when he went to the restroom and the assistant to help him transition announced she could not come into retrieve him after ample amount of time he began the STEVE GIGGLE...this is known by all that know him...He will take control of the situation. He wasn't coming out...not until she went for help (a man) He then quickly exited without her knowledge to an open wide free to go where he wished HUGE CAMPUS... He chose a room where the door was not locked and no lights on to "hide" Once the staff got back to the restroom and he was no longer there. The search begins.... it takes a lot of people, effort and the police are notified because the staff discover an open gate in the very back. The search moves out into the neighboring houses, public library etc... while Steven is oblivious to what he is creating but sitting coloring to his hearts content... the bell rings and a class enters.. The teacher asks Steven his name.. ZACK HOBBS!! he says. She asks him to write it on an index card so she can see where he belongs... ZACK HOBBS???????? The search deepens. His sister is oblivious to what is going on....His ESE director is out of her ind with worry.....the ESE staffing specialist who knows Steven was not on campus at the time. Once classes shifted and the end of the day to catch buses the staff are helping Kaitlyn for the news and LOW AND BEHOLD....their is Steven AKA Zack Hobbs looking for Kaitlyn to get to the bus..and the para is with Kaitlyn.... Kaitlyn tells of all the police and scolds Steven to say: NO HIDE AND SEEK AT SCHOOL STEVEN, you are in big big trouble. I am called as they are riding home and given the afternoons events. The information I got via a phone call was about the same as what has Been stated since. II am amazed that surveillance tapes were gone through fro the neighboring public library and so much involvement and I was called after...it is bitter Sweet...I would have wanted to leave and I would have misses the younger kid' bus which would have been a bad thing and sick with worry. I got to laugh at the #1 intelligence it took to pull it off...and just knowing the past with Steven soooo typical...Once he knew he had control...He can never have control in situations where he can "get loose" or "get hurt" so consequences are he uses the bathroom in the clinic until he can be trusted, and knows his routine enough to back off the para some and I made him write his REAL NAME 20 times.

Jordan has been having star days every day this week. He is in 2nd grade, gen ed with ESE supports. He loves his school, wore a tie today. One of the principles wears ties every day and he wants to grow up and be just like Dr. Best! Jordan loves to read, be read to and especially if we have a movie that matches the book. Many Disney books we have the DVD also so we read the book and he watches the movie after and flips the book to match the story line in the book. He went to sleep on his own, in his own room and on his own bed last night..first time in YEARS!!!! He didn't make it all th way through the night. We had a bad storm which was loud and the neighbors on that side of the house have dogs which were loud last night as well. We will keep at it.

Tressa is in love with all the attention in school. I have some work to do this year as her new assistant has health issues to walk up and down stairs where Tressa's classes are on the 2nd floor and her IEP was set for her to use the stairs as exercise for her health.. Tressa claims she is using the elevator A LOT with her assistant and this is not something I want started in 2nd grad. Elevators are for wheel chairs is what I have always told her and now I expand it to people who can not walk stairs SHE CAN!!!!! AND NEEDS TO. She loves her new teacher, has great things to talk about every day. No accidents of wet pants... no melt downs... and she gets to see her favorite helper Mrs. Lacata who is now helping pre-K children.

Lucas is happy to have his routine back, he goes to school smiling and comes home ready to eat. He is tired and sleeps through the night!!!! So every thing is moving along well as for school and the kids. There has been no bus issues, no real issues other than some kinks to have the two new assistants learn the kids and their needs so we can all b on the same page. I can give a couple weeks for that. Nothing I do not need myself.

Therapy in the home is kicking back in...Vickie will start back with speech in the home and we are adjusting OT so it works for all. I will post pictures of their work. I have A few getting into after school classes and want to have scouts for the kids. It is off to a great start for a wonderful year.

I am not even sure how to catch up from a long summer of very little blogging but we made it and that is 100% top of our highs of the summer of 2009. When they called about the adoption of Emma we knew that it would be a Summer of sacrifices, we just had no idea the depth of what it really meant. Our opening our home to another family for three months was also very taxing for us so we have weathered more than most..proud to be on the other side of our generosity and thinking of ourselves for awhile... With summer behind us we look forward to the school year and all the successes of a new High School student (Keirsten in 9th grade)in our home again, two middle schoolers (Kaitlyn 7th and Steven 6th) and three elementary school kids (Lucas Pre-K2, Jordan and Tressa 2nd grade) Baby Emma at home. Our in home supports are stable and looking forward to the new CDC plus addition if we are chosen...HOPE HOPE HOPE. This would mean a world of supports opening up to our family.

The kids seem very calm, ready to talk about the holiday's which I am sure is part from doing without all summer. I am also looking forward to some festive times with the kids. Costume making for Halloween is all the talk right now other than lists to Santa which started a couple weeks ago..lol Keirsten wants to be Juno with Chris being Bleaker, Steven wants to be something scary, Jordan a Pirate again, Tressa flips from one thing to the next so not sure what her desire is this year yet. Kaitlyn is always last to decide.

I hope all my friends and family are healthy and happy, the most important aspects of life.

Twas the night before school starts and all thru the house...

The book bags are packed with new supplies. Clothes, shoes/socks and harnesses hanging by the door, waiting for the kids feet to hit the morning floor.... Mom in her Jammie's just waiting for morning, when the kids board the buses to their destinations for learning...

Our family was provided tickets to see the Devil Rays play Texas today.. It was a great day although our team was not feeling the love I guess.... We left 3 to 0 in the 8th inning to get back hoe in front of the mass traffic. The kids loved it, although Kaitlyn can not understand WHY WHY WHY we go to these games where the field is beautiful and all the things are right there an she is NEVER called up to bat...LOL She gets upset she doesn't get to bat! She is very good. I a not sure if it is because she can not see the ball until it is almost at home plate so she swings and conncects most of the time with a lot of power... just a natural.

I need to get to bed.. early monrning routine starts tomorrow. Plenty of blogging time after they have gone to school.

Take me out to the ball game...

Emma found her feet today

My battery ran out when I went to take her pics. She grabs hold and won't let go to one and rolls to the side and gets mad because she is not balanced...lol She thinks it is fun to push on her feet to lift her lower body and her eyes get very big as she looses balance and goes to one side or the other...VERY VERY CUTE!
It is amazing to hear the stories of years gone. Deena on the keyboard has written many tunes to her life experiences and listening to the words from a woman 82 years wise is worth every minute... She also has some hysterical songs regarding men..THEY ARE THE SAME .. LOL How she ended up with Mr. Wrong each time..... I need to record them all!

Oh how we love to hear the stories
