BUDDY WALK WEEKEND

It was a busy weekend with out of town guests and the weekend full of BUDDY WALK events.

Friday night was all about prep work and organization. Being the mom to six still at home and having the SW FL PODS Angels BUDDY WALK on her again it came down to a picnic once the community needs were found to be hurting so badly that sponsors could not fund our cause as they have in the past. In order to continue awareness we decided to have a picnic, walk in Cape Coral and end the evening in our community sharing our children. It was a wonderful day.

Saturday we got to the park which was a new experience so set up was not as easy nor flawless. The picnic had a lower show than we had liked although about 130 came out and all had a god time in one of our beautiful region parks that offers so much.

The picnic was from 10 until 3 for us and then we raced to get in the line up in Cape Coral for our walk. A quick shower for all, fresh clothes and load the pick up truck. Again to save funds we did not build a float. The kids rode in the back of the truck, we used banners we have had and tossed out candy, trinkets and T-shirts which were from prior years which gave our sponsors names. We know our country is under great stress right now so we can continue to what we do in support of families and tighten our belt for this coming year. Next year plans are already underway. We will move back to downtown Ft Myers as the key to the BUDDY WALK IS EXPOSURE (AWARENESS) and that was not achieved in this new venue.

The Cape Coral walk again proved to be uplifting cheers of THANK YOU's from the community. The walk itself each year is so heart warming from the response I get and this year Nancy came over and felt the same. In discussing how we feel as complete strangers show their kindness and appreciation for what we do all year is heart felt. Nancy was so taken it brought many tears at times as we talked with the hundred's of on lookers. It was then off to music and fun where a stranger had honored our work in a compassionate move to provide our families from the walk a meal and fun dancing at a local establishment.

Sunday was family and friends breakfast with a ham and egg bake dish and left overs which were so good. The kids played games, swam in the pool enjoying their time together. One mishap we are awaiting word. Jordan fell off the pool ladder and is having difficulty moving his arm. Once we get word from the doctor we will go to get x-rays I am sure.
